The twenty-four year old winger has firmly established himself as a first team regular over the past two season and has been rewarded with a new four year contract worth a basic £75,000 per week.

De Gea should not care about speculation, says Mourinho

Jose Mourinho has demanded David de Gea puts speculation over his future to one side and focuses on Manchester United s season run-in.

The Spain goalkeeper was on the verge of a deadline day move to Real Madrid at the start of the 2015-16 season but a failure to process paperwork in time kept him in Manchester.

Keylor Navas poor form this season means a new keeper reportedly remains high on the agenda at the Santiago Bernabeu but Mourinho does not want De Gea to become side-tracked as his EFL Cup winners chase Europa League glory and a top-four spot in the Premier League.

I m not interested in the speculation. If the player is, he shouldn t [be], Mourinho told a news conference ahead of Thursday s Europa League quarter-final first leg at Anderlecht.

Inter coach Benitez hails Spurs development

Inter Milan coach Rafael Benitez said Champions League opponents Tottenham have come on leaps and bounds since he left the Premier League.

Benitez spent six years at Liverpool, winning a Champions League and an FA Cup before moving to Italy in the summer.

Having guided Liverpool in the Champions League every season since arriving in England, Benitez s side finished seventh in the last campaign and missed out on Europe s Premier club competition.

And it is Harry Redknapp s Spurs who have replaced them in the Champions League after their fourth spot last season.

Benitez feels the Londoners are a better team than they were during his Merseyside tenure.

Clearly there s a difference, Tottenham have improved a lot, they ve invested a lot of money in p…

Buffon vows to take one more shot at winning Champions League

Juventus captain Gianluigi Buffon says he has one final chance to win the Champions League next season following Saturday s disappointment in Cardiff.

The Serie A champions were beaten 4-1 by Real Madrid, as goals from Casemiro, Marco Asensio and a Cristiano Ronaldo double saw Zinedine Zidane s side become the first team to retain the trophy in the competition s modern format.

Buffon has now tasted defeat in three finals with Juve – in 2003, 2015 and 2017 – and he has yet to get his hands on European club football s biggest prize in his storied career.

The 39-year-old accepts it will be difficult for Juve to match this season s triumphs in Serie A and the Coppa Italia as well as reach another Champions League final, but he is determined to give it a go.
